Quelques lectures de mon côté.

SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL

Ancestral Night, Elizabeth Bear. Je l'ai commencé, et je l'ai abandonné en cours. Par ennui.

Luna: Moon Rising, Ian McDonald. Je l'ai lu et chroniqué pour le Bifrost spécial allunissage. Dans l'ensemble j'aime cette série. Elle a des défauts, mais c'est une bonne saga.

Fleet of Knives, Gareth L. Powell. Lu et chroniqué, c'est la suite de Braises de guerre et ça sort bientôt en Lunes d'Encre.


FIRST NOVEL

Infinite Detail, Tim Maughan. Lu, même pas pris la peine de le chroniquer. Adam Roberts l'a élu roman SF de l'année dans le Gardian. Moi j'ai pas aimé.

Finder, Suzanne Palmer (DAW). Lu et chroniqué. Que c'est mauvais !

A Song for a New Day, Sarah Pinsker. Lu sur les conseils de GD. Beaucoup aimé.

NOVELLA

Anxiety Is the Dizziness of Freedom, Ted Chiang (Exhalation). C'est Ted Chiang, c'est brillant.

Permafrost, Alastair Reynolds. J'aime beaucoup Reynolds, enfin, souvent. Mais là c'est pas bon.

Omphalos, Ted Chiang (Exhalation). C'est Ted Chiang, c'est brillant.

SHORT STORY

Thoughts and Prayers, Ken Liu. Publiée sous le titre Pensées et Prières dans le Bifrost 97. C'est Ken Liu, c'est brillant.

COLLECTION

The Very Best of Caitlín R. Kiernan, Caitlín R. Kiernan. Je n'ai pas réussi à le finir, Caitlín R. Kiernan a prafois un style extrêmement lourd et c'est le cas dans ce recueil. Lu aux deux-tiers, il n'y a pas une nouvelle dont je pourrais dire que je l'ai appréciée.

Hexarchate Stories, Yoon Ha Lee. Lu, pas chroniqué. C'est bien mais il faut avoir lu la trilogie de l'Hexarchate, ou au moins le premier, pour y comprendre quelque chose.

Sooner or Later Everything Falls into the Sea, Sarah Pinsker. Pas encore lu mais je l'ai commandé.

Ok, à mon tour :

ROMAN SF :

Ancestral Night : je l'ai trouvé extrêmement mauvais, alors que j'ai aimé d'autres textes de l'autrice, que ce soit en Weird ou en Fantasy.

The light brigade : je l'ai également trouvé mauvais, tournant en rond au bout d'un moment sans plus rien avoir à raconter.

Luna: Moon Rising : c'est un peu le tome 3 qui ne s'imposait pas !

Fleet of Knives : sans être le NSO du siècle, ça se lit sans déplaisir.

PREMIER ROMAN :

A Memory Called Empire : moi j'aurais plutôt appelé ça "Martine à la déchetterie'...

NOVELLA :

The Haunting of Tram Car 015 : celui-là par contre est tout à fait excellent ;)

This Is How You Lose the Time War : pas réussi à le finir tellement j'ai trouvé ça mauvais.

Permafrost : pour un auteur de ce calibre, c'est convenu et décevant.

The Ascent to Godhood : comme toujours avec Jy Yang, c'est à la fois magistral et toujours pas traduit ou récompensé...
